Rules and Regulations

  • Parents should take active participation in day-to-day school affairs of their children by assisting them in their homework and in maintaining overall progress of their child.
  • Notes / remarks / school circulars etc. sent from the school periodically should be checked regularly and action should be taken whenever required.
  • Students should not be sent with any toys, jewellery, mobile phones, ear phones or any other electronic equipment as the school authorities are unable to take the responsibility of any loss or damage of any such articles.
  • It is important that the students are properly and neatly dressed in their assignned school uniform.
  • Parents should make sure of consistency and punctuality in sending their children to school.
  • Requirements for leave should be notified in the leave record of the dairy in advance.
  • In case a long period of leave is required, the school authorities should be informed in advance.
  • In case a child is suffering from any infectious or contagious disease, he/she should not be sent to school till the recovery of his/her health. Such students will not be admitted to class without a medical certificate, certifying complete recovery of health.
  • If and when  a child is required to be given medicine during class hours, the school must be notified in writing.
  • Parents should take special care to see that their children do not carry any dangerous items to school, such as blades, scissors, matches etc.
  • Minor mishaps are bound to occur when small children are at play or in the classrooms. Utmost care is being taken to see that the children are in a safe environment at all times
  • In case of minor injury, the child will be attended to in the school itself. In any other case. parents will be informed immediately while providing proper treatment  to the injured student.
  • It is important for children to learn discipline and to follow school regulations, as the school is meant to provide the necessary tools needed in their daily life.

Rules of discipline

  • Students are required to be punctual.
  • Attendance in the morning assembly is compulsory.
  • Students found absent from the premises without our permission after attending the assembly are liable for punishment.
  • Late comers will not be admitted to the class without the permission of the Principal.
  • Students must regularly study at home as it will help them to develop proper habits.
  • Students of Shihab English Medium are always representing the school and hence must be on good behaviour. 
  • Other than school textbooks or library books, books such as comics, newspapers and magazines will not be allowed in the classroom.
  • The school will send regular interval reports, messages and notices.
  • Running, playing, shouting or spitting inside the school building are prohibited. Students must pick up waste papers if they find them lying on the ground and throw them into the dustbin.
  • Personal cleanliness and hygiene is a must; shaggy, unkempt hair will not be permitted.
  • Growing of nails or using nail polish is forbidden.
  • High-heeled shoes will not be allowed.
  • Students are not allowed to wear any expensive jewelry (gold, costly watches, bangles, rings, earrings) or flowers. If any such article is lost, the school will not conduct any inquiry nor will it allow anybody to conduct any such inquiry in the school premises.
  • Students should not bring mobile phones, ear phones, musical systems or any electronic gadgets to school.
  • The school will not be responsible if any of the items listed above are lost.
  • Collection of funds is forbidden in the school without the prior permission of the Principal.
  • Students must bring the school diary everyday. They should not write anything that is unrelated to the school work. No page from the school diary should be damaged or destroyed.
  • A complaint box is kept in the office. Students, staff and parents can drop in complaints, if they have any.
  • Crackers, explosives, match-boxes, knives or other harmful objects are forbidden.
  • Students should not enter classrooms other than their given class without a valid reason and/or permission.
  • Students are advised to be friendly among themselves. They must report to the school authorities incase of any incident or objectionable conduct involving a student or staff.
  • Information or reports reaching the school about any objectionable behavior from a student outside the school, will attract strict action. The students must live up to the school’s reputation. Each child is the mirror of the school.
  • The students must cultivate the habit of reading. They must do extra-reading at home and use the school library extensively.
  • When moving from one classroom to another class or from one area of the school to another, students must not run and/or rush, instead they will move quietly in neat files. This also applies to the school bus, the students should sit with discipline and not jostle with each other. The students must be very careful in the school bus. They must be respectful towards the driver and the conductor by not playing or shouting. Most importantly, they must not distract the driver. Lastly they must not damage the seats of the bus.
  • Students are not allowed to make complaints by means of a committee or present any collective petition, but they are welcome to present their case, if any, either individually or through their proper representatives.
  • Students are responsible for keeping their books and belongings safe. Books should be brought according to the time table of the school.

Parent’s co-operation

  • Parents and guardians are requested to cooperate with the school authorities in maintaining the growth and development of their child.
  • At regular intervals the school will send reports, messages, notices etc. parents or guardians are urged to verify, and sign them and take proper action promptly.
  • Parents / guardians are requested not to enter the class. They can meet teachers outside the class after class hours.
  • Private tutions are normally not encouraged. However, if one wants, they can get private tutors with the approval of the principal. But class teachers should not be asked for tutions.
  • Parents are requested not to send their children to the school if the children are medically unfit or till the incubation period, if they are suffering from any infectious diseases like chickenpox, measles, mumps etc. In such cases, the Principal must be informed at once.
  • Any change in the students residential address or telephone number should be notified to the school authorities immediately.
  • Parents and students are not allowed to give gilts to the teachers.
  • Parents are requested to inform the school authorities and consult them if the child has any particular problem such as epilepsy or any other handicap so that the school can take proper steps for the child’s education and development. All such problems and consultations will be kept strictly confidential.
  • Parents are requested to respond to the periodic parent-teacher meetings that are conducted in the school.
  • Parents are requested to follow the child’s progress through regularly checking their diaries and books.
  • The school management reserves the right to revise the rules and regulations at any time whenever necessary.
  • Parents are required to approach the staff or school authorities with decorum. Any indecent behavior will only lead to the respective child’s dismissal from the school. A written declaration will be taken from the parents to ensure that they have gone through all the rules framed by the school and abide by them strictly.
  • In all matters of disputes, parents are to approach the head of the school and the decision made by the head of the school will be final.
  • Parents are requested to read these rules and explain them to the children.
